Soaring for success

Have you noticed the bird in our beautiful new badge?

The bird in our new school logo is a skylark - a very special bird with some unique characteristics we thought were extremely special and inspiring.

The skylark, a bird local to the Sefton area, has a very unusual flight pattern. Unlike other birds, it doesn't go directly from A to B, instead sometimes going straight up, sometimes going around - a wonderful metaphor for everyone's individual learning journeys!

The skylark also soars high, singing its cheerful song from its highest point - shouting to the world about how well it has done, as we will do on behalf of our pupils!

The skylark has long been an inspiration to artists, poets and writers too.

Vaughn Williams (1872-1958) wrote a famous violin piece entitled Lark Ascending, inspired by a poem of the same name by George Meredith (1828 –1909).

Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822) wrote a poem ‘To a Skylark’, as did William Wordsworth (1770–1850).

We hope our children are equally inspired by our own Acre View skylark!
