Acre View Prospectus

Our Prospectus

Welcome to Acre View Primary School, located in the beautiful village of Lydiate, Sefton. Acre View Primary School is a special school for pupils aged from 5 to 11. We support pupils with a range of special educational needs including, but not exclusively: Autism, social communication difficulties, ADHD, SEMH, attachment difficulties and demand avoidance. We are committed to nurturing development and learning; ensuring that pupils become aspirational, confident learners who achieve and thrive. We are part of The West Kirby Educational Trust Charity which dates back to the 1800s. The Charity is committed to supporting children and young people with additional needs to flourish. At Acre View, we place children at the heart of all we do; we strive to make a difference to every member of the school’s community. We recognise that every day and every interaction is important, which is why we are going the extra mile to ensure that our children soar. In fact, that is why we have selected skylark as our emblem. On one level, it is a much more complex and, sometimes, unpredictable bird in both the way it sings and how it flies. Ultimately, it soars higher and sings louder than nearly every other bird – which is what makes it so special. We are a collaborative school that reaches out into the wider world, caring for and respecting the needs, beliefs, and cultures of others. We want our children to blossom into responsible and caring citizens with high aspirations. Please come and find out more about our school. We would be delighted to meet you. Mrs Wynne Headteacher

Our Vision: Soaring to Success By nurturing all aspects of our pupils - the head, the heart and maintaining a healthy body - we support our children towards being academically ambitious, yet socially conscious adults who are ready to realise fantastic achievements. We do this by: Creating Aspiration We encourage our pupils to aim high and believe in themselves. Nurturing Individuality We all have differences and there is beauty in our diversity. We role model this, encouraging children to explore their talents and interests. Providing a Caring Community Emotional support for pupils is enabled by our kind and caring staff and through exceptional clinical care. Our Values Our values underpin our vision, providing the platform from which relationships flourish. Be Kind Look after yourself and those around you. Be Brave Join in, keep going and always try your best. Be Curious Inspiration is everywhere! Ask questions and discover new things.

Our Curriculum Acre View Primary School strives to be an inclusive community where we support the children in ‘Soaring to Success’ in all aspects of school life. The core aims of our aspirational curriculum are to support each child in developing independence, to encourage a positive sense of self, and to promote positive attitudes to learning; so that each child can access learning fully. Our curriculum nurtures and prepares children educationally, socially, morally and physically for their continuing learning journey. Supported by a culture of equality and aspiration, we value each child as an individual with a unique potential for learning. Their natural curiosity is fostered through a creative and ambitious curriculum that excites and challenges; and enables all to be independent, resilient and successful learners. We understand that the curriculum, both within taught lessons and beyond them, should create an environment where questioning, academic risk‑taking and the freedom to learn from mistakes are all encouraged. We aim for children to develop an understanding of citizenship and to be empowered to make valuable contributions locally and globally.

Therapeutic and Support Services While the school is modelled upon the operation and structure of a mainstream primary school, our therapeutic and support services are an intrinsic part of pupils’ education at Acre View Primary School, facilitating effective learning, development and success. This is enabled by the following factors: • Strategic, bespoke, targeted intervention, with support for children to enable them to make accelerated progress; bridging the gap between their learning and that of peers. • A thorough and specific induction process, which involves the child (at their appropriate level of input), the Local Authority, parents/carers, external professionals and school professionals. • Dynamic support for our young people through our internal referral system. Pupils can be referred internally for additional support; this is taken to our panel meeting for discussion and the appropriate team is identified for interventions. • Access to a strong and effective clinical team. Based at school, through a set weekly timetable, they work with the child, enhance the knowledge and capabilities of teachers and enable parents/ carers and other agencies to build care, guidance and support. Our professionals include: - Clinical Psychologist - Home School Liaison - Medical Team - Occupational Therapist - School Nurse - SENDCo - Speech and Language Therapist

Admissions Our referrals come from Local Authority Education Departments throughout the North West of England and North Wales. Applications for placements are usually referred to us by Local Education Authorities. Parents and carers can contact their individual Local Authority (LA) to find out about their local admissions arrangements. Referrals are then made by the LA and tours of the school can be arranged once a referral is in progress. For any queries regarding the admissions process, please email schooloffice@acre-view.co.uk Our Admissions Policy, in the Personal Development and SEND Policy Handbook, and can be found on our website.
